Default DUY31, Anyone???

Having read several articles on Trootrace, etc., the only available plugin I can find right now to do room analization is the DUY31. Anyone used this? The concept is pretty straight forward and includes its own signal generator, RTA, and other tools. Just curious to see if anyone has any experience using this, thanks!!

I'm very happy about the possibility of a solution for us, Troo Trace orphans...
DUY31 seems to be very good, although not being a true FFT analyzer, I believe it can be very useful, it's very good priced at US$ 186 (the website says it's a promotion that will be available until july 14th 2010, but it's still there!)
I haven't bought it yet, because i'm not totally sure about the compability with Venue.
At this website:
http://www.avid.com/US/products/DUY-Plugins
It says it's not compatible.
Even at the DUY online store:
http://www.duy.net/duystore/product....ShowBackLink=n
It doesn't say there's a TDM Windows version, required for Venue.
I only read about the possible compatibility on the (outdated) website below:
http://www.duystore.com/com/news.html
It says a Venue version will be available july 15th 2010, but i haven't seen anything about that, so far.
If anybody knows, please tell me if it's already compatible with Venue.
TIA
Sincerely,

Sorry but you are comparing apples and oranges. Once you tune a rig using Smaart's phase alignment and FFT you will never go back to just a RTA. If you are hanging PA every day for a living, get smaart. Really depends on what you are doing on a daily basis.

Hello.
I know a simple 31 band RTA as the DUY31 is not comparable to a true FFT analyzer, such as Smaart Live.
I see many people nowadays using two monitors with Venue, one for Venue,
other for Smaart 7.
Certainly it's way much better that way and it looks very cool.
But the DUY31 is cheap, and its 31 band EQs are "insertable" in the channels, unlike Venue's internal 31 Band EQs.
I personally don't miss 31 band EQs on input channels, but I co-own a sound rental company and many engineers ask for that feature and it would be a good feature to offer, more affordable than Rane Serato.
And DUY 31 also includes a simple RTA and a Noise gen.
That's why i'm interested in.
Regards,
MJ

One thing you need to consider is DSP resources. A graphic eq uses a considerable amount of dsp and I am fairly sure it is a fixed amount. This means you will use the same amount of DSP if you use one band of EQ or all 31.. May not be a deal breaker but it is food for thought. Steve
