Default Allocating memory,PT Won\'t let me !!

Opening up the pro tools info I see it suggests 50000 KB of memory ,same for minnimum and prefered. Unlike my older PTLE setup, I am unable to change these settings. I have 1.5 Gig of Memory available. Should Pro Tools have more?

QS Dual 1 Ghz
PTLE 6.4

OSX doesn't allow you to allocate memory like you could in OS9, it is done automatically for you.
