Default Installation of 2022.9

Hi all,

Is it possible to install 2022.9 without doing a clean install and keep my 2021.12 and others (i think i have 3 now) versions of Pro Tools there just in renaming the oldest versions?

I want to be sure before trying to install 2022.9, i cant have ant downtime and i dont have the time to do i clean install.

I am on a Mac Pro 2020 with Catalina, Ultimate or whatever it is called now and HDX.

Thanks for your help!

Luc

Yes.

Rename your current PT applications to for eg. Pro Tools 2022.6 and then install the latest version. You’ll now have the renamed one and the latest version will simply be called Pro Tools.

Then you should just continuing using what is currently working and not even consider the update.

Thanks Sardi. That's what i did last time with 2021.12, i renamed 2021.6 and installed the new version.

So it should work the same way between 2021.12 and 2022.9? Nothing new in the installer that could cause some problems?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's what i'v done in the last 9 months, but Melodyne ARA could be handy and faster in a couple of projects i am working on right now, where i dont need or have time to tune the vocals manually in Auto tune.

Thanks!

If you don’t need 2022.9 for any particular reason you should follow SKI’s advice and wait until you have some downtime.

Nobody can predict what the installation may or may not do to your workflow. A couple of new features are auto-installed on your system with this update. Melodyne and Pro Tools Audio Bridge. Neither should affect system performance but you just never know what will happen.
