Default Pro tools le 8.0 Computer q's

Ok im a self recording musician that is not too computer savvy. I have been trying and trying to fix my problem with the H/W error "increase/decrease buffer size". I need to be able to record multiple tracks and ive heard many things about this problem having something to do with the hardrive. Basiclly what i need is someone to tell me straight up what i need to do to make this laptop decent for recoding multiple mic tracks. If this computer is just not the way to go i also have an older pc is also windows xp but has alot of issues at the moment so i could not run the sandra report. i only say that because idk if a pc is better for pro tools than a laptop. btw i have pro tools le 8 with an mbox002. thanks in advance

Welcome to the DUC.

This isn’t a lot of computer for Pro Tools. Single core computing is not going to do much in PT8. Generally desktops are better primarily because you can carefully pick components that work well with this software.

Try disabling your wireless.

Use a separate non-USB drive for your audio. If you chose Firewire you will need a qualified controller.

Are you saying that you have an MBox and a 002?

You need a totally separate dedicated hard drive for your audio. And that USB drive on your report is not sufficient. Neither is a partition on your system drive. Plain, simple, straight up. Where this gets tricky with a laptop is, that external needs to either be a firewire drive or an e-sata. (E-sata being preferable). The other option if there isn't a drive bay for another drive inside the computer is to remove your DVD writer and put the secondary drive in that slot, then use an external DVD burner.

Sorry bro, but this computer won't run PT8. I'm surprise you got it installed. If my memory serves me correctly, you need at least a 1gig processor and right now you're running under that.
