Strange Viewing Behavior
Hi All,
Maybe somebody could shed some light on a new problem I'm having in the last week or so. When I click on a region near the bottom of the edit window the whole screen instantly redraws and suddenly the region is at the top of the screen and I have to go and chase it to click on it again. This is becoming very frustrating while editing as I have to constantly keep searching for my place on the screen. This also happens in the mix window. When I go to highlight a track on the mixer page it will jump all the way over to the far left of the screen and I will have highlighted a track I was not even pointing to. Depending on where the track is on the mixer it will sometimes jump over to the far right as well. The bottom line is: when you click on a track or a region it jumps away from you and you have to go chase it at the other end of the screen in mix or edit. Any ideas? I have a Mac Pro 8 core Nehalem PT HD3 8.1.1 Thanks in advance for any help on this. Cheers, Steve |

Re: Strange Viewing Behavior
Have you done any trouble shooting like trashing prefs?

Re: Strange Viewing Behavior
Thanks HD2 for your reply! Yes, not only did I trash prefs but I completely wiped clean my Mac hard drive, re-formatted, re-installed the OS (10.6.6)
and every bit of software that I own. After 4 days of this hell I opened up a song and same problem. When I click on a track in the mixer window it jumps away from me to the other side of the screen. When I click on a region in the edit window the region jumps away from me also to the top of the screen or the bottom of the screen depending on where it was to begin with. In other words it jumps to the opposite side of the screen from where I'm clicking. Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks so much but I'm not going to re-install my system and Pro Tools again. It took me offline for too long and gave me no results. This only happens in Pro Tools 8.1.1 I can live with this if I have to but it really slows down my workflow. Sorry to be so long winded but thanks for reading. Cheers, Steve |

Re: Strange Viewing Behavior
I have experienced this exact problem. As far as I could tell it was related to changing monitor resolutions and/or moving the menu bar from primary display to secondary display while PT was running. When I get into this state, restarting PT always corrects it. It's a real pain.

Re: Strange Viewing Behavior
Hi All,
After a week of this I can't take it anymore! I know I said I could live with this problem but I have since changed my mind. My work speed has really been affected by this problem. This is making me insane! Does anybody from Avid know anything that could possibly help me? Please!!! Also, thanks very much to those of you who have replied so far. Cheers, Steve |
