Default Can't Import Audio in 8.0.3

We have just upgraded from PT8.0.1 (after rolling back from 8.0.3pr because of performance issues) to PT8.0.3. Now almost all of our sound effects library cannot be imported. Whoever designed the library chose a naming convention that includes "/" as in Door/Car/Open. In 8.0.1 and the pr we were able to import these without an issue, but now they wont even show up in the left box of the import window, and we cannot preview the sound. Some files without any illegal characters also have the same problem.
Most of the files are SDII.
We are not going to rename the entire library.
Anyone know why 8.0.3 has changed from 8.0.1 in this sense, and how to work around it or solve it?

Thanks, Brad @ Lifton Institute

Have you tried rebuilding the Digi Driectory on all of your audio drives? We do that, at least, once a week on all of our systems and it makes a world of difference.

I recently updated all of my sound effects, and I replaced all my SD2's with wavs. There is a feature in Soundminer called "Mirror" that is specifically designed for this. It mirrors the file structure, so you'll have to figure out another way to get rid of the illegal characters, such as slashes.

Okay, I was hoping more for a response from Digi; why would this be a change in 8.0.3?
Any solution from you guys that doesn't include altering the library? We are a school and thus working on someone else's 200-Gig library. We aren't really trying to go in a rename it all..
Thanks, though, all your suggestions so far have been helpful.

8.03 converts SD2 files to BWV when you bring them into a session.

Apple announced that support for the underlying file structure of SD2 would be going away over ten years ago. It would be well worth the effort to convert all SD2 files to BWV before being forced to do so unexpectedly by an Apple OS update that could hose the files.

Do you mean BWF? Is there a filetype called BWV?

Sure you are. We've done it for interns or editors who didn't know how to name things.

Automator in OSX can find and replace. This is how we've fixed things.

Lot's of great info. Thanks guys. We've still got two weeks off for holiday, so we'll try these out, and it doesn't sound like it will be much of a problem.

I had the same issue using LE 8.03 & Mbox2 Pro. I did not have any special symbols in the naming convention of the files I was importing.
I believe the Import Audio function just doesn't work for some systems, probably depending on your software/hardware setup.

Digi response suggested dragging the files from the finder window in MacOs into the Regions bin of PT. It worked. You can drag your audio into your session as a workaround until they fix the bug. Don't bother renaming files.
