Am working outside our own studio this weekend and they have 4 artist series with an ethernet hub so i tried with your setup on a macbook pro 2014 and got the same results. Always wanting port 1 and when turning the port 1 off it goes to an unnamed port but cant get them to connect.

These guys work with Huge sessions and artists and never had any issues with using port 1 and never crossed any internet problems so maybe just go with what works and if nothing goes wrong them nothing needs to be done.

Thanks Chris, my training Macs must not connect to the internet or business LAN, but they have to be on the same LAN segment as the control surface and local archives.

Sounds like it is not just me being dumb and there is some issue with the port rescanning.
