For 90+ minute films, they are loathe to upload a 36GB+ video in ProRes LT or DNxHD|26. Sometimes I get them. Most often I get an MP4 of some kind via Frame IO, Moxion, Dropbox, Vimeo, etc.

But, there are super fast ways to transcode them.

Friends don't let friends use MP4's in Pro Tools.

Can we sticky this quote? We've had to explain this over and over again for so long now.

GREAT POINT AND REMINDER MINISTER!!

If I work on a theatrical feature, I get Academy length reels, (4-5), so it's all split up for theatrical. If I get smaller transcoded versions, I can usually transcode it to a ProRes422Proxy. As long as the picture is solid enough to see, I am not too concerned with the file size as it can be adjusted for what I do here.
Even H.264 .mov works great and has in the past for me years back. I have to look at what they sent me, but never had any problems on the back end.
I have my own secure ftp or server, so never an issue with getting files and my server uploads will be fast. Never use Dropbox.. Frame for reviews, but that is about it.
