Default SPDIF to ADAT

Can an optical SPDIF cable be plugged into and the ADAT light pipe on 001 and be recognised by protools?

Sure can. There's a setting in the preferences to change the optical I/O from ADAT to S/Pdif.
But note that this disables the Coax I/O. The two won't run together.

Just to clarify: the optical and the coax CAN run at the same time, but S/PDIF can only be on one or the other.

Thanks Aussie and Tele....much appreciated.

In Setups/Hardware/other options/Optical format...I get a greyed out box.

I can see the word ADAT with an arrow next to it (I assume the arrow allows you to select SPDIF) but its greyed out so I cant select anything in the Optical Format box.

Any tips on why this is so.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Mark

A further question:

How do you determine which is SPDIF input and which is SPDIF output on the 001 PCI card?

And...

Are optical spdif cables available in different lengths?

Thanks again.

I don't have the 001, but as I remember it has 2 optical ports ( SPDIF or ADAT...depends on how you assign them )
If it doesn't say In or Out beside the ports...the one which glows red is the output ...
