Eleven Rack Beta 1.04 Driver for OSX

I'm a bit surprised no one has commented on this here yet, but I've been using the new beta driver for a few days now under OSX Lion and it does seem to have improved stability over the previous version. One thing I did though was delete the Digidesign CoreAudio plugin (/Library/Audio/HAL/Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin) since I only use the 11R as an interface and therefore don't need it. After doing that you'll want to trash your preference files and reboot:

-Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences
-Delete 'com.digidesign.protoolsLE.plist', 'DAE Prefs' (folder), 'DigiSetup.OSX' and 'Pro Tools preferences'.
-Empty trash, then restart the computer.

Haven't had to reboot my MacBook ever since, Pro Tools hasn't failed to load once.

Is this driver for Lion exclusively or does is apply to Snow Leopard as well? I often have to reboot before I can use 11r with my MacBook, still using 10.6.3.

I don't think it'd hurt to give it a try, you can always rollback to the previous version. However the above procedure of removing the Digidesign CoreAudio plugin also applies to the old driver, it might improve stability by itself. That is, in case you don't use another interface together with the 11R that requires CoreAudio.

I agree. Give it a try Derker, if it doesnt work, just roll it back.

Avid did kind of word that sentence strangely.

It could mean that if used on Lion the driver is Beta (not fully "approved"), but is fully approved for use on earlier versions.

OR

It could mean that it is a beta driver ONLY for Lion.


Take for example Pro Tools 9.0.5 -

9.0.5 is fully approved for Windows 7 and OSX 10.6.x
BUT is BETA for Lion (10.7.x)

Pro Tools 9.0.5 is an officially qualified and recommended update for all Pro Tools 9 and Pro Tools HD 9 users on Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) and Windows 7. Although not officially qualified, Pro Tools 9.0.5 also adds public beta support for Apple's OS X Lion operating system.

Well, it could create a paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe. Granted, that's the worst-case scenario. The destruction however might be limited merely to our own galaxy.

That could be bad OR if the Multiverse theory is correct, you would simple go on like nothing happened - perhaps the Derker of the 4th dimension has already tried this, i suggest you give him a call - all you need to do is invent time travel first
