Default Control PT recording features via MIDI from an extenal MIDI device

Hi All,
I would like to known if there is any way to control recording functions (like REC, put in record enables a track, STOP, etc) with MIDI messages from a external MIDI device.
Thanks,
Montxo

Montzo,

There are a number of control surfaces that work. Try looking in the 3rd Party Compatible section of the Digi website.

I use a JL Cooper CS2-10. For me it's especially useful controlling PT from my sound booth.

Hope this helps,

Does the CS2-10 control MIDI tracks, Aux tracks and Master as well as Audio tracks?

jbr,

The CS controls the first 8 tracks of faders. It doesn't matter if they're Aux, Master, MIDI, recorded tracks, etc. You can also control pan, mute, record, solo, and transport. There are other controls, but these are the ones I use most often remotely. You have to arm the record of each track manually with the mouse and there is no automation. It works like the Peavey control surface, but I had better control with this one, so that's what I use. It's very reasonably priced: around $300. I bought it so long ago, I don't remember. I can see my computer screen through a window in the booth. This way I can keep the noisefloor low when I'm recording alone.

Hope this helps.
