Default Hard Drive crash - service recommendation needed

Hi all;

I dropped my Firewire drive and now it doesn't mount and it makes a bad grinding sound. I have many important files on there that are not backed up. Does anyone here have a strong recommendation for a hard drive repair company?

Thanks

Greg Frey

You will need to send it to a data recovery company, not a repair one. They will put the plates in a new identical unit and so be able to recover the data. If the drive got badly scratched, you would still loose some. Im not in your country so I dont know, but a search for data recovery should bring many options.
Good luck

They're the best bar none. Our own Government uses them and many major corporations. Also, I've read somewhere that if you mention Digi sent you they'll give some money off the recovery. They image the recoverable data back onto a new working drive. Whatever you do, don't even turn that drive on anymore. The longer it's spinning the more data loss that can be happening. I wouldn't even try to recover any data myself if the data is important (which it sounds like it is) and if it sounds like the mechanical mechanism is broken. Regards.
