Default ATTO card for G4

Hi

I'm running PT 5.1.1 on a G4 with OS 9.2.2. Up till now, I've been using firewire drives. I now want to get an internal scsi drive. Which ATTO card do I need? I have no need for external scsi devices, so I think I don't need a 'dual' card. Is that correct?

Thanks

Greg Frey

I think the officially supported configurations with Pro Tools are: SCSI 64 kit and SCSI 128 kit. Both dual channel ultra wide external SCSI.
I don't know if there is a internal ATTO solution for g4.
Mabye you can check ATTO site to find it.

regards

AJP

The dual channel indicates that there are two discreet SCSI busses. We use an internal 36G and an external dual Glyph rack. In the case of the Atto EPCI-DC card that we use on our MDD G4, there are two external connectors and two internal connectors. I think most Atto cards have both external and internal connectors. Check the Digi compato docs for the approved drivers and setup info. SCSI still rocks!

Cheers,
Chris

Note that once you start using OS 9 and OS X you will run into Assertion error-36, that is a driver conflict between the two operating system. Here's what you do, erace all OS9 drives and re place drives from the OS X system. make srue when you do this you check the ( add OS 9 drivers ) option or you won't be able to mount your OS 9 dirves. This is a day of busy work but one you can't afford not to do. I used a 120 gig firewire drive as a tank and did it one drive at a time, drag and drop, errace, with OS X then add OS 9 drives. , drag the files back onto the newly formated drive and more on. Atto intern and external SCSi works great on all my systems.
