Default \"Play Pause\" mode?

Anyone have any ideas on disabling the "play pause" mode? In the transport, the stop button is lit, and the play button flashes when I hit play. The counter doesn't actually start counting until about 4 seconds into playing. I have no idea how I enabled this function, but would like to get out of it.

Thanks!

Sounds to me like a click/count off issue. Is the blue box next to the metronome flashing too?
How many bars does it indicate? You can change this by double clicking on it and opening up the click/count off options window.

Pre-roll is off, but even if it wasn't, the cursor would move in the timeline, and the counter would still roll with the initiation of "play." I read something on the Digi site about this... this mode pre-loads the buffer when playing files with a large number of tracks, but I only have 7 tracks in this particular file. And their suggestion for disabling the mode does not work.

thanks

Does this happen after leaving a session unattended for a while? Does the session play, or just light up the controls then stop?

It does sound like you just have countoff enabled. In the transport, the button between Midi merge and metronome.
If thats not it...try decreasing the hardware or playback buffer
