In addition to the new HDX or HDN card and adapter, you will also need the Digilink auth on your ilok.

Their SUPPORT was dropped, but they are still WORKING until something drastical is changed by Avid. Don't see that happening, though...

(Keeping my 192 and upgrading to Pro Tools HD 12).
Either:
- HDX
- HDN Native Pci-express
- HDN ThunderBolt

Yes. None of the TDM cards will not work, even though TDM-era blue interfaces keep working

To add to that, the adapter is a passive one, which means old DigiLink and new DigiLink connectors are electrically identical. The adapter only makes the large connector to fit into the new smaller connector.

Please someone confirm this. I need to upgrade to PTHD12 and keep my 192 unit if possible.
Yes you can upgrade and keep your 192, but you cannot use your old TDM cards past PT10

HDN Native Pci-express being the supported card here. It needs at least one interface and both Omni and 192 Digital are "working" although the blue interfaces are not "supported".

Are you guys finally getting what's the difference between "supported" and "working" configs? :)

Ok, thanks a bunch, JFreak.
So, I can use my existing 192 and 96i and just buy a used HD Native card and a DigiLink adapter. Got that now. Very cool.

So I have two more questions...

Q1: How do I get a DigiLink authorization on my iLok?

Q2: My current MacPro is old (2.33 ghz Dual). So, when buying a bigger used Mac, can I use a used Mac Pro six-core 3.33ghz Xeon Mac Pro tower? (or an 8-core?).

You can get your Digilink license here.
