True, it doesn't do MIDI, but the recent update solved the last of my compatibility problems.

That's good to hear. Have you been able to use the modulation matrix to control VST parameters? My experience was that the matrix was flaky even with the Magma effect units.

Wow Musicman, amazing and detailed description, you just sold me on MB7-2. I'm guessing the '-2' is version2? When you're running those 4 compressors in MB7 at what point do you start getting signal degradation? Do you run into phase issues?
Thanks for the recommendtionS!

No signal degradation as they're not running in serial mode; they're in separate bands. Nice thing with MB7-2 is you can pick the slope at the crossover points. No phase issues either. I don't think the -2 means anything.

My favorite compressors are either an LA2A or 1176 emulation inside MB7-2 and there are times I'll mix them in the different slots. And I change the crossover point depending on the material.

The "-2" in MB7-2 is for version 2. The first version did not host VST.

Didn't know there was a previous version - thanks for the update.

Are the compressors (LA2A and 1176) you're using hardware or plugins? Can you insert several hardware compressors, one in each frequency band?

To insert hardware on each band you would have to duplicate the track with MB-7 on it, until you have as many tracks as bands. Then on each one solo a different band. Then use hardware inserts.

Or use a quad track and multi-line instance of MB-7 with bands soloed.

I think Avid Pro Multiband Dynamics has a better workflow for this particular scenario.

All software. I have a couple of LA2A and 1176 software emulations but the ones I use most are from IK Multimedia. I do what I mentioned about the multiband compression the way I do it for the flexibility it gives me. But also like I said it's real easy to overdo things and screw up the sound.
