change sample rate?

I created a new project (song) in ProTools M9 a while back.
Apparently it was set at 44,100 sample rate.
My firewire 410 is currently set for 48,000.......and ProTools will not open the project.
I am not able to change the sample rate in maudio firewire 410 software to 44,100....and don't know why?
When I click on sample rate....... nothing happens. (like it's frozen)
