Default Sibelius 8 and Pro Tools 12 Rewire on Yosemite

Hi there,

I have been trying since almost 3 hours to get Sibelius working with Pro Tools in Rewire... It is driving me crazy! Everything is up to date, latest versions of PT, Sib and OS X, fresh install as of yesterday.

Now, Sibelius doesn't show in the plugins list in Pro Tools. I have tried "repair Rewire" in Sibelius, repairing permissions, thrashing the "sibelius rewire device.bundle" (and others, as seen on a Sibelius support page)

Nothing works, still no trace of Sibelius in Pro Tools. All I want to do is sync them! I can send MIDI via IAC from Sibelius to PT so I don't care about sending audio, I just need to sync them!

Anyone knows a way to do this without Rewire, using MIDI Beat Clock / MTC? I spent hours on Google and found nothing useful, and my brain is numb from not being able to work.

I should add that on a different partition, I have PT 10 AND 12 installed, and it works on 10 but not on 12...

Doesn't work here either. Had to revert to Sibelius 7.5 while waiting for either pt or sib update

It does work here with PT 11.3.1 But when I playback, Sibelius 8 window is always on top. So, when I want want working on PT and just having the score as a monitoring, I'm forced to click on PT window or Cmd+Tab to change app.
I find this very annoying and I search for a long time synchronising Sibelius to PT by MTC, but I think we are just two to want to do that, because I found nothing on internet, like you.

Hi Hugocentrique,

Did you find something else? Someone?

It doesn't work here too.
First I had an AAE error 20038
??? No info to be found on internet

Support Case for Avid.

Their response was to delete some files....

Now I can't find Sibelius at all in my plugins list.

I am still waiting for an answer from Avid Support.

When I receive an answer, I will try to fix it. After good results I will inform you asap

Ron

I can't re-wire Sibelius 8 and PT12 either.

I now don't appear to have a temporary solution until Avid fixes this.

I've just upgraded from Sibelius 6 (OS X Lion) and PT10, is there a way to officially get hold of a copy of Sibelius 7.5, does anyone know? I'm finding navigating the Avid site a bit of a nightmare and my Mac with Lion on is no longer an option.

Default Sibelius 8 and Pro Tools 12 Rewire on Yosemite

I would contact support and ask them to provide a 7.5 auth as the functionality you need is broken. I don't have that issue as I have upgraded 7/7.5/8 and can downgrade but they should already have this in known issues and help you to get things running

Thank you very much Janne

I've indeed just called AVID where a very nice man took control of my nMP remotely. For me this issue is now fixed. It was very quick, and this is exactly what he did (NB Sibelius wasn't showing up for me as a rewire option in my inserts):

With PT & Sibelius both off [and I'm on a Mac here]:

Open "Finder" > go to menu bar, hold down alt and (from the GO menu that now appears because you're holding down the alt key) click “library”

From the Library Folder click through the following:

Preferences Folder > AVID Folder > Pro Tools Folder > delete the "InstalledAAXPlugins" file (which then goes to your trash). For me this is a TextEdit document and has a blank page icon.

This will make PT rescan for this (Sibelius/plugin) info when you reopen PT (and repopulate the file you’ve deleted into the Library Folder once you open PT again). There was no need to empty the file from the trash for this to work. I knew the rest, but essentially for those who this is new to, in PT:

create a stereo instrument track > click to make an insert > multichannel plugin > instrument > click Sibelius which is now there, re-wire starts up and opens Sibelius for you.

I've not played with it yet, but at least it now populates my inserts, and re-wires.
AVID support, thank you.

OK. After a quick test it works OK but I initially thought it didn't. Playback was initially terrible.

If everything stutters and plays back like a drunken robot be sure that (in PT): set up > playback engine > H/W buffer size, is big (e.g., 1024 samples for me). I'd been recording at 64 samples during the day and hadn't switched it. This longer sample time (i.e., 1024 in PT) allowed me to hear the performance settings from Sibelius in PT.
