Default What does the digi 002 offer that the 001 dont have?

What does the digi 002 offer that the digi 001 dont have besides the control surface? Also is the digi 001 better than say logic audio platinum or cubase?

Several things:

1. Better converters

2. Better mic preamps, and 4 instead of two

3. A tactile control surface

4. A couple grand worth of plug ins and synths

5. 88.2 / 96 KHz capabilities

If you'd like my impressions (as a former 001 and current 002 owner), you might want to check out my Digi 002 review. Here's a link:

Speaking of plug-ins the digi-02 comes with,
` ampitube,` I will never mic an amp again!
Then the Maxim plug-in, cool stuff!!
Them alone were enough to make me step up +
What Phil said!

The maxim plugin,is that the one that enables you to make the volume on all the tracks equal? Is there any thing on 001 that you can assign this same task?

Maxim is a compressor / mastering plug. I use it on my master fader when I do a bounce to disc. It really helps with the overal volume. If you haven't bounced something to disc this may not make sense. But once you do a bounce without Maxim you'll hear it.....

ppl, Maxim is a Digidesign plug-in that comes free with the 001 Factory Bundle (which i have). If you didn't get the Factory, then you can still purchase Maxim separately.
..and Amplitube is also a plug in, made by IK multimedia. you can buy that for like $150.
all of which is hugely cheaper than the 002. I'm not saying hte 002 isn't good, it's obviously better in every way, but i'm just saying, you don't have to buy 002 to get Maxim, coz that's what it sounded like y'all were sayin'..

the 001 Factory comes with the following;

Digidesign Maxim
Digidesign D-fi
Digidesign D-Verb (but from 5.3.1 forward, that comes standard on all Pro Tools)
Waves SuperTap
Waves Q10 Paragraphic EQ
Waves MetaFlanger
and if you register the Waves, you get Waves AudioTrack
Native Instruments Dynamo
Bomb Factory Classic Compressors (1176 & LA-2A)
Bomb Factory moogerfooger Low Pass Filter

the Waves is upgradeable to Gold Bundle for half the price of the Gold. the NI Dynamo is upgradeable to Reaktor for a discount. but for some stupid reason, both Bomb Factory and Digidesign refuse to upgrade from the Bomb Factory products included in the 001 Factory.
