Default Eighty-Eight Ensemble with PT First

Hello, I am new to PT and have PT First installed.
I recently purchased an M-Audio Keystation 88 midi keyboard.
It included the software Eighty-Eight Ensemble (a grand piano instrument) and a serial number to activate it.
After installing it, it does not appear in the list of instruments in pro tools.
I installed Xpand2 from inside pro tools, and that one DOES work, and shows up fine.
Looking inside where these are located I see plugins with a little plug icon, but the eighty-eight ensemble appears as a regular folder icon, even though it has the same file extension (i dont recall.. aax something something ??? )

I installed Ableton Live Lite (came with keyboard as well) and the instrument shows up and works perfectly in there.
Any ideas how I can resolve this issue?

So, I guess I got the wrong idea with PT..it can't use vst out of the box?
I just tried a supposed Rewire method with Reaper, but Reaper doesn't appear as a virtual instrument in PT, after being installed.
Is all this a PT First restriction or am I missing the whole idea...??

Reaper should rewire into PT.

Correct no VST's only RTAS/AAX and that s depending on what Version of PT first you have....

Search reapers site to make sure the rewire plug doesn't have to be installed separately

Also double check the PT first docs to make sure you can rewire. With it

I think the First version may only allow in-app purchased plugins, and that is all. So I guess that is why.

[EDIT] but then again Ableton shows up as a rewired instrument plugin...blah

Did you make sure you installed the AAX version? I believe it is AAX compatible.

Pro Tools First only supports plugins that are purchased from the Marketplace.

Yeah, that's what I figured.
I moved on to Reaper for now, since I can't test out Pro Tools properly.
Reaper basically does what I need it to.
Maybe give Pro Tools monthly subscription a try in the future, wouldn't lose much for a monthly sub.

PT First was extremely slow starting up on my PC and had some annoying crashes as well. Not sure how the full software is, but I imagination not a lot different. My PC is several years old, but is still good enough to run most modern games without problems, so a totally empty project shouldn't be straining my computer...also possible there are Windows 10 issues, as W10 is still very new, so I don't know.
Thanks!
