Default C24 fader question. They stopped working

Hey All, my friend's setup was just moved to a new room and now the faders on the C24 are not working. Other controls are fine(like transport, solo, mute, etc) and the faders will move if you grab a screen fader with the mouse. But if you put your finger on a fader to move it, the screen fader doesn't move, and the real fader snaps back when you take your finger off of it. Any ideas?

Have you tried the fader tests under the Utility button on the C24

Testing and calibration both pass. Any other ideas? I seem to remember in the old days(PT6 LE ) that there was a silent mode that would disable the faders on my old 002. But we can't find anything like this on later systems(either this HD rig, or on my 003 system). I wondered if that option still exists and somehow we engaged it by mistake?

Not in the studio today so I can't check this but I think there is a silent mode.

Press the "soft key" button. I think it's in there.

I just reviewed the manual(page 47 to be exact) and will check it in the morning. Either way, thanks for the tip

I know this is probably something you have already looked at, since you know your way around the C24 and PT quite well (I get helpful tips from your posts quite often!), but I once ran into a similar issue with my C24 and it turned out to be that I had inadvertently placed volume automation in a session (back when I was a total noob I made stupid mistakes like this quite frequently!). Anyway, just thought I would suggest checking any automation parameters in the session that could be telling the C24 what to do.

Sadly, no love from the soft key and silent mode. Also, this is happening on any and all session, including new ones with no automation written. Guess its going into the shop

I would try a firmware reset first:

1. Turn the C24 off.

2. Press and hold SELECT, SOLO and MUTE on fader channel #1 while powering the C24 back on.

3. Launch ProTools and visit SETUP menu > Peripherals > Ethernet Controllers.

4. There, un-check "Enable" then check "Enable" again. This will make ProTools rescan for the C24.

5. When scanning is complete, choose the C24 as the first unit. You'll be promted that the firmware version does not match. Allow the firmware to be updated.

Hey Dave, thanks for the detailed instructions. Sadly, it didn't help
