Unable to communicate with HUI...
I just bumped up to 5.0.
Now, everytime I close a session, PT says that it is unable to communicate with HUI. I open up another session and the HUI responds normally. Anyone know what may be causing it and how to get rid of it? |

Re: Unable to communicate with HUI...
No problems here with HUI and PT 5. Do you have HUI and HUI only checked in the midi pull down menu? This had me the first time I tried to use HUI with PT5.

Re: Unable to communicate with HUI...
Make sure the MIDI ports you are using for the HUI are selected in the MIDI menu.

uno
what MIDI interface are you using? I was getting this with a MTP2, when I swapped to a MTPAV the problem went away. Rig is PT5 MIX+ on 9600/350 with 192Mb RAM |

Re: Unable to communicate with HUI...
It's on a 64xtc. Never had a problem before 5.0.
I have selected the HUI properly in the Peripherals menu and have selected input receive from the HUI. The HUI works perfect during a session. In fact, as soon as it tells me it cannot communicate (upon closing the session), and I click OK, the HUI comes back to life and states "No Pro Tools session is currently open". Again, it's not all that crucial, just annoying. |

Re: Unable to communicate with HUI...
uno,
Make sure "Run MIDI in background" is checked in your OMS MIDI setup. This should resolve that error. Also, make sure that "Use Apple serial DMA" is unchecked in the OMS preferences. Jake Schaefer |

Jake Schaefer

This suggestion doesn't work. I too am experiencing the same problem. It's not a big deal but it is annoying. I always have "Use Apple Serial DMA" unchecked and I have always had "Run MIDI in background" checked as well. All of this started when I upgraded to PT 5.0. |

Re: Unable to communicate with HUI...
I had the same problem using a MOTU USB MIDI interface, and just couldn't get it to go both directions. I switched to a different USB interface, and had the same problem, but noticed in 5.0 you have to select the I/O port under the MIDI menu. This is a different menu than where the preferences are. BTW even with the MIDI selected correctly, the MOTU USB MIDI interface would not work. It was the small 2 port one, I forget the name, but it's the latest one. I'm using a MIDI Man 2 port USB interface now and it works fine.
