Default I think I found a jewel - opinions?

Hey, I am not a keyboardist, so I dont know much about these things. I know a B-3 is a great sought-after organ.
I have found someone who is giving away a 40 year old hammond E-100.
Here is a website that shows this particular model. Looks good to me.

http://www.hammond-organ.com/Product...del%20E100.htm

Is this a good organ? He says it works, but hasnt been played in a while - if it needs some repair is it worth it?? Help me decide.

Get it !
A free Hammond is a truly rare find. Maybe you could even incorporate the pickup in your moving schedule.
It would make an impressive piece of furniture in the new studio, even if it doesn't work..

cheers,

Yea... i am wating for the guy to call me back about picking it up. I think I am actually getting excited about this. A big fat Hammond sitting in the studio is a pretty good conversation piece... not to mention a selling point for the studio...

I'd jump on it. And when you get it, check the speakers, if they are Jensen P12N, they are worth over $200 each. They're about the best guitar speaker ever.

And after you rip the speakers out of the classic B3 for your new guitar cab, check to see if the wood is stained cherry or more of a nutmeg overcoat, because the cherry stain burns a bit longer than the nutmeg due to the density of 'filling' material the acetone provides on the wood grain.

Just kidding Tele_Player. I just thought your post was funny.

Go For it Kev!!! A couple of years ago my parents somehow stumbled across a free 1890's Beethoven Organ. It is cool sounding, but about 70 years ago, someone removed the foot-pump(for the air), and replaced it with an electrical pump(so, its real loud), but its still very beautifully carved, and sounds great.

They get those kinds of Hammonds in all the time at the local second hand stores.
