Having given it some thought, I think it probably would be quite nice to be able to edit a recording as it’s actually going down. I presume this was a limitation back in the day due to the speed of hard drives etc, and there may be some other technical reasons why it can’t be done (e.g. editing a file while it’s still being written to…?), but I like the idea of being able to, for instance, chop out obvious mistakes at the time they’re made, so they never have to be heard again.

I've long thought that should be possible. We're talking about non-destructive editing after all. Back when I used to record VO I would unlink timeline and edit so when I start a new take I could copy the previous one down to a selects track. But that required separate sequential takes.... Not applicable to loop recording and playlists.

Please Avid, add the ability to copy/paste audio from a track which is recording!

That seems doable with todays computing power and would be amazing to be able to grab bits and pieces to paste to an empty comp track WHILE recording...
