Default 32 Channel IO Limit.. WHY?

AVID, why on earth do you want to limit the I/O count of your flagship DAW product. Why make life so hard for your customers. No other DAW on the market today has such a silly limitation.

I really won't buy an expensive HDX interface and PT 2018 Ultimate license to get around this issue, it's just insane.

Please reconsider your marketing strategy, currently we don't use PT 2018 and our C24 anymore because of this.. you're loosing market share.

One HDX card allows for 64 IO.

Its not the flagship product. HDX is the flagship. HDN hardware is the median setup that allows 64 IO. All 3rd party hardware is limited to 32. If you need more, you can buy the correct product for your needs from Avid, or use a different DAW Having said that, I suspect the limit will change in the bear future to coincide with the new channel/track expansion options. Most music makers get by fine with 32 IO, and users that don't, spend the extra money...

^ this.

I could mix a large venue gig with 32 i/o if needed, and considering HDN offers 64 i/o it's really not a problem for me ...

... and sheesh, people, cannot you remember that those 1998 model shiny new best of the breed MIX systems had a limitation of 48 i/o (64 voices) and you could not have more no matter how many millions you paid

I am having to switch DAW's completely now because of this. It is such a pain in the ass. I have bought a 36 channel console and can only use the fist 8 because pro tools reads all the ADAT channels and the headphone outs before if reads the MADI of which I am running the rest of my converters. I could cope with losing 4 channels but only 8. complete JOKE

One CAT5 cable, 128x128 with PCIe card. 64x64 with DVS.
Protools is the industrial standard, or at least in my book.
All I want to do is a virtual sound check and archive in the DAW of my choice, that is Protools.
I don't want to buy logic, reaper. I want to use Protools.

I even have tried hijacking Dolby Audio Bridge. Protools will send out 128 channels but it will only record the first 32 of 128 inputs.
I used DVS, into loopback, into Dolby audio bridge.

I don't want to carry around 1 network switch, 2 Focusrite RedNet 5's, 2 DigiLink cables, 1 HD Native, 1 thunderbolt 3 cable, 1 thunderbolt 2 to 3 adaptor and 1 5 space rack.
When 1 CAT5 cable is all I need! Is this crazy talk?

If we insist on hardware, make some new hardware.
Or charge us to buy more i/o.
Put an Avid logo on Audinates Dante PCIe card.
An Avid DVS license.

Please
