Unable to communicate with hardware launching 6.4 LE w/ 001

I just built a new system and I can't get my 001 to work. Any ideas?

Asus PK5 SE Motherboard
Intel XEON 2x3.0ghz
eVGA geforce 8400GS 256mb (PCI-E)
2x1 GB DDR2-1066mhz OCZ RAM
250 GB Seagate 7200RPM 8MB Cache SATA2 System Drive
500 GB Seagate 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA2 Audio Drive
Protools 001 Card

Windows XP Professional (SP2) & Pro Tools LE 6.4

Everytime I try to launch protools it starts loading, then it sticks on 'Creating DAE Objects' and a window pops up saying "DAE was unable to communicate with the audio hardware. Please save your session and restart your computer. (-6004)"

I've updated the PACE drivers. I'm running SP2 - I know this hasn't been tested by Digidesign - could this be the issue? I can't downgrade though, because it's straight from the install.

I've tried disabling the AC97 sound and network adapter. I've tried switching PCI slots. I've updated my bios, etc.

I'd love some advice! Thank you.

Someone will certainly have a more complete answer than this one, but update to PTLE6.4 CS6, then CS9 to use with XP SP2. They are free. That's my big idea. Wishing you the best!

Since you have a dual core, you may have to turn one core off.

How do I turn one core off? I read about that somewhere, but I wasn't sure how to actually disable one core for pro tools.
