Default ProTools BitRate Question.

Hey, Forum... I'm stuck.

My company had some spoken-word audio files produced down in Australia, audio book files that have been submitted to Audible.Com for processing. The tech at Audible has requested that the files be remastered so that the bit rate can be changed from 96kbps to 192kbps. I'm running ProTools LE 7.4. Can I get some help with how I would do this?

I'm in the New York area and there isn't time to fix the problem 'down-under'.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Cayce

Default Re: ProTools BitRate Question.

You just need to ask them what they want as the final. Presumably the original recordings are not compressed. If they were compressed from full-fidelity down to 96 kbps, it sounds like they got a little over baked, and Audible doesn't feel good about just converting those "up" to 192. It won't make them sound any better once they were crushed the first time. They want them re-compressed "down" from the original full-fidelity files. You'll have to go back to your mastering guy and make sure he has the right instructions.
