Default 24 frame with pull up vs. 23.976

Quick question. We're wondering what the differences are between running ProTools in 23.976 and running it in 24 frame with pull-up.

Our setup is: PT 7.1 cs8, Quicktime DV with 24 frame burn.

We're driving PT with a sequencer (Cubase SX3) which only runs at 24 (not 23.976) so there's a small amount of drift we were experiencing due to the difference in speeds. We're starting to test with PT set to 24 frame in pull-up (both audio and video) but we'd love to know if there's any unforseen issues with changing the session setup globally.

Thanks in advance

You would never want to run at 24 with pull up, that would be .1% faster than film speed. If your pic is 23.976 just run your system at 29.97 and you will be fine. You only pull up to match video speed back to film speed, which you are not doing. Your picture is more than likelly 23.976, correct?

If your Quicktime file is true 24fps, then you should be running at 24 or 30 (not 23.976 or 29.97)in Pro Tools and at 48K (or whatever your sample rate is WITHOUT a pulldown). This would be considered true "film speed." If your Cubase sessions are all in sync at 24 fps, and your Quicktime is true 24fps, then there should be no need for pull-downs or pull-ups. This is the beauty of NOT making videotapes, there's no need to muck around with pulldown.

pat's right. 24 pulled up is faster. you want slower, pull down ... but ... do you?

so everything is at 24. right? QT at 24. PT should be at 24.

can you be more specic about the setting?

is the QT DV really 23.976? is it DVCHD PRO? or DV NTSC?
