I've got one, as well as Neve 1073 and Millennia. The Sytek is clean, with a solid low end. Not bright, maybe a hint thicker than something like the Digidesign 002 pre's.

It's not my main pre but I do use it. Ususally if I want super clean I use the Millennia, or super thick the Neves. I don't need 'in between' very often and that's where Sytek sits. Burr Brown channels are a bit warmer on top, possibly at the expense of detail. The difference is pretty subtle though.

Definitely a great value for the price. I'd buy it again.

I like it too. It's the equivalent of console pres in a room without a console. Utility pres if you will. I have Burr Brown on 3-4 and to be honest I don't hear much of a difference.

I have one and use it for toms. It is clean and doesn't have much character and works very well for utility use with one drawback. It has no built in pad, and the level controls don't go down very far. It tends to overdrive my 192 I/O inputs.

I leave a set of inline pads permanently plugged in the back of it, which puts it into a usable range for my use.

Aloha,

Jonathan
