2024.3 must be literally dropping any moment

I just made a support request for my groovecell and playcell issues, and under pro tools studio version there was 2023.12 and then the final choice was actually 2024.3

I thought it must have been available as the choice was there for support, but its not in my account yet, but surely this means it's imminent?

Getting very excited for the midi plugins.

Or just midi that's solid and on par with logic.Cubase etc. I would prefer to finally stay in 1 DAW....

I doubt we will get polyphonic expression, but as long as we get a drum track and an arp and step sequencer it's really not that far off.

I don't really do film/orchestral so the vst expression thing doesn't bother me, and for the limited use I use orchestra for, my brain is already pretty wired to use key switching effectively.

Believe it or not, *workflow* wise, PT midi as it is right now does have some pros over Cubendo and Logic. It's just behind on actual features.

I saw a 3rd party native step sequencer for PT midi FX in the Midi FX Avid promo video from Namm, so looks like we are definitely getting that (and I'll pay for it if I have to for that one plugin), but native drum editing with easy note rename is something we desperately need.

What in particular are you after? We could compile a list of midi FR's and present them to Avid.

Biggest MIDI issue is no playlist view and also the fact that unless you are either loop recording to separate clips in the clip list or using MIDI merge, all recording is destructive. I did notice today that overlapping editing is actually great when you are trimming out takes that a part of Virtual Instrument performances though.


The other big one is how confusing MIDI export is and that on my recent tests it varies from how it is described in the manual. We need clarity from Avid on that for sure!

Oh and just give me the ability to label notes in the UI.

(OK and playlist view to be simmilar as audio tracks would be nice... )

The VI Midi disconnect bug is cross platform and I complained about it on Mac in 2019 and I can not believe it is happening on Windows in 2024.

I seem to recall that the support option of a new version can appear some weeks before the actual product, but hopefully we'll have it by the month's end. Looking forward to seeing the new midi stuff.

Most of all I hope they fixed drag and drop from the clip list to the project window. I'm a simple soul.

EDIT I hope they don't literally drop it. That would be unfortunate.

OOPs.... looks like someone inside Avid updated something early for a change :)

The service portal for case creation was updated with 2024.3 prematurely.

I do like this thread though as I will cross check fixes against comments above so I know what to be ready for :)
