Default MC MIX/Control Router Issue...

Hi Guys,

So I just picked up an Artist mix to add to the MC Control.

Here is what is happening.

My first question is: I'm on a Mac BTW do the artist series require an airport system or the like to work?

The reason I ask is because, I couldn't get the surfaces to be recognized threw my NETGEAR router, but when I chose NETGEAR as my wireless network in the Network preferences, the surfaces came alive, and worked great!

This doesn't seem right to me. Why would I have to chose a wireless network to get the surfaces to work?

I shut the airport down, and tried with out it but no luck, so what gives here? what am I doing wrong.

BTW there is another WIFI network in my house, that we use all the time for internet.

I purchased a separate router to use with the artist series.

Can someone give me so guidance on this, it would be much appreciated

Is it an IP address conflict? Do you have a static iP set up?

Thanks for the reply,

I read about setting up a static IP, but I'm not a network guy, and my knowledge is VERY limited in that regard. I don't even know what a static IP address is.

But I did hear that using a SWITCH instead of a router? what do you think?

I got a switch going in a router and it works great.

However, when I bought the different modules I always needed to do a router and a system restart, sometimes twice.

Just a thought.

Did you previously have Airport as your wireless network? If so - make sure that Airport is the first item listed in the Network preference panel, otherwise conflicts can occur.

The FAQ has additional information on common issues and solutions for setup and configuration.
