Onyx 1200f interface into 002?
Hey All,
Looking for a decent preamp/interface to record drums, etc., via XLR inputs to send directly into Digi 002. Been reading good things about the Mackie Onyx 1200F, but can't find much about if this unit works well via Adat outputs into the 002. Anyone using or have tried this configuration? Would like to bring 8 Adat tracks in simultaneously, maybe with snare & kick via API pre's into 002 channels 5-8. Thanks. - John

The Onyx 800r works fine and you might find a used one. Other choices:
Presonus D8, Digimax LT, Firestudio M-Audio 2626, Octane Behringer ADA8000(on a budget) Focusrite OctoPre, ISA428, ISA 828(all with an optional card)

Re: Onyx 1200f interface into 002?
Yea I didn't see any specs either. I've been looking at the mackie onyx 1640i that does NOT have to use a separate interface into pro tools M-powered. It works DIRECTLY with it's own driver for around the same $ Thought I'd mentioned it here although I'm sure you already know. I think it's a sweet little deal.

Re: Onyx 1200f interface into 002?
If the Digimax 96 has a lightpipe out, it SHOULD work fine(but will NOT do 96K). Digidesign's lightpipe connections are only good up to 48K. The Mackie 1200F does have a lightpipe out so you should be able to configure it so the first 8 channels go out via lightpipe. The firewire connection will be useless in Pro Tools. If you OWN one, I would try it, but I would not buy it for this(expensive risk). There is an 800R on evil bay right now if that's what you just gotta have.(no, its not mine).
