Default Timestamp Weirdness PT5.1.1

Hello All...

Here is our scenario:

Original production sound from Nagra D loaded into Pro Tools 5.1.1 locked to the time code from the Nagra.

Loads without a problem.

To get over the 12 hour time limit of any given session, we have two PT sessions for every sound roll: one with a Session Start Time of 00:00:00:00 into which we loaded any dailies that had time code from 00:00:00:00 to 11:59:59:29, and another with a Session Start Time of 12:00:00:00, into which we loaded any dailies that had time code from 12:00:00:00 to to 23:59:59:29.

Once audio is loaded into a track, it is locked and left there in the timeline of the session.

After loading is complete, and after the session is saved and closed - once the session is re-opened again in the future, the Original- and User Time Stamps show up just fine when you click on any region in Spot mode.

To be safe, we use the Time Stamp Selected function on all files (one at a time) and then use the Export Region Definitions on all files (regions) as well.

Now...here is the weirdness.

We create an empty session and import some of the original files into that session. If a file had an Original Time Stamp from 00:00:00:00 to 11:59:59:29, the Original (and User-, for that matter) Time Stamps show up just fine and as expected in Spot Mode. However, if a file had an Original Time Stamp from 12:00:00:00 to 23:59:59:29, both Time Stamp fields either show up as 00:00:00:00 or "Out of range", depending on the Session Start Time of the session into which we are importing.

Is this repeatable by anyone? Is this a known limitation? Any suggestions from anyone?

Any help is most appreciated.

All the best,
Stephen Barden

Funny, I just went through this on the phone with Kira and Scott from Sound Dogs L.A.!

You need to download one of the customer service releases. I believe either 5.1.1cs5 or 5.1.3cs2 will fix the problem.
