PT8: Shift+S to Solo Crashes PT

Hi Everyone,

I was very excited about the new soloing feature in PT8. However, one out of 10 times, when I press Shift+S to solo the selected tracks, I get a beachball and PT quits. Sometimes I hear looping Audio just before the crash.

If I look at the console messages the message says :

"18/05/09 3:09:41 PM com.apple.launchd[85] ([0x0-0x17017].com.digidesign.ProToolsHD[181]) Exited abnormally: Bus error"

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Yeah, I get this a lot of the time. It's an awesome feature when it works, but I stay away from using it just because I don't want to sit through a crash and restart. Give it time, I guess. It'll be fixed.

It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Guess no one else is using the feature or it's not happening to them.

I'm having this issue pretty regularly still. I don't see anything about it in the fixes included with cs3.

Digi, will this be addressed soon? It's such a great quick key and very annoying to be scared to use it!

I get thois too. I was demo some plugins and this is a great feature for doing comparisons between two identical tracks with different plugins.

Had to stop using it. Back to mouse...

A sound fx editor on the last movie I worked on was getting this. I told him to change the number of processors to an odd number (from 2 to 1 on his particular laptop). The crashes ceased afterwards. Maybe this would work on your systems? Long shot, I know, but worth a try!

Great! This has been driving me crazy.

Also, at times, a quick series of commands can also cause it to 'rolling ball...looped audio....crash!' as well.
