"Pre-fading" snare sound
How do you get that snare sound that kind of fades a bit into the "snare hit". It's kind of hard to explain. But it's like when someone uses a whip, and you can kind of like hear the whip through the air before the impact.
I hope you understand what I mean, and I'm sorry if this is described elsewhere, but I don't know the correct term for it. I've searched for things like "snare pre delay" And "pre fade", but can't seem to find anything. thanks in advance. |

Re: "Pre-fading" snare sound
I know of a couple ways...
1) take a copy of the snare hit and reverse it. Ten blend to taste. Then on a separate track line it up so the peak lines up with the main snare transient. Then blend to taste. 2) record a reverb tail from the snare reverb return. Then use the steps above...

Re: "Pre-fading" snare sound
Thank you very much. It sounds so easy, and I can't believe I didn't think of that myself.
Gonna play with some snares tomorrow. cheers |

Re: "Pre-fading" snare sound
There are some plugins out there, like Altiverb, that has a "reverse" button. Duplicate the snare track, bus it to the reverb plugin, and nudge it earlier to taste.
