AKAI MPK25 in PT8
I have gone through the different threads about using the MPK in ProTools8, I am yet to get my MPK 25 to be recognized by PT 8, I have downloaded the CS-10 template, I have followed the steps provided in the post and still NOTHING, can anyone please help, the keyboard works fine in my other software, Arturia, Reason, but it will NOT be recognized by PT, VERY FRUSTRATING!

Re: AKAI MPK25 in PT8
1. To set up the MPK25 in Pro Tools to trigger instrument or midi tracks there are
just a few steps to follow. First you must create an instrument or midi track within the software. To do this go to Track>New and choose to create a new Instrument or Midi Track. 2. Now from within the Edit Window you will see the instrument track but nothing is yet assigned to it and there isn’t any apparent way to set an input or output. To make this possible you must go to View> Edit Window and make sure there is a check next to Instruments. This can also be done for the Mix Window. 3. Now we must choose the midi input so the device can be routed to this track. Now usually if the device is connected and recognized before starting Pro Tools all 3 inputs will be chosen automatically. For the MPK25 you will see MPK25, MPK25 (2), and MPK25 (3). Sometimes they will appear as their driver, USB Audio Device, USB Audio Device (2), and USB Audio Device (3). To do this go to Setup>Midi>Input Devices 4. After this is done you will have everything configured to start setting up different instruments. To choose an instrument for the track you must first choose the midi input for this track. 5. From here you must choose the first MPK25, or USB Audio Device input on All Channels. 6. Now you must choose what plug-in you will be triggering via the Insert Menu to the right of your instrument options. Click one of the arrows to drop down your options and go to plug-in>Instrument to see a list of available plug-ins. 7. Next choose the midi output, or the instrument you will be using. To do this you click on the Output Selector on the same track you chose the input and simply choose the plugin instrument you would like to trigger. You should be all set. Also, be sure to record enable the track before recording. |
