-9171 and -9172 errors with Pro Tools HD 10.3 on HDX

Yes, that is probably what they have done on my system with 10.3.3...

Me too - I still get them - also when mixing with no VI's (yes, I got VE5...).
Also when bouncing.
It seems like it's more robust to activity in other open apps though.

Ok thanks.. Good to know I'm not the only one. I will agree that the system is more robust. I can't force the error anymore. But I do get 9171 even in a session with no audio and 1 empty audiotrack!

I know we've been down this road before but, is anyone experiencing the 9171's using an external clock or are we all using internal?

I'm internal as well. Maybe we should be paying attention to the clocking portion of the error message. I'm gonna try to get my hands on a clock over the holidays to test it out.

I just created en empty 32/48 interleaved session saved to my audio drive. Created a single mono track and hit play. I got a 9171 after 1 minute and 39 seconds.

EDIT 2:
I created a second session this time saving to my boot drive (I know). This session was 16/44 multiple-mono. Created a single mono track and hit play. 4 minutes without any interruptions so without stopping I decided to see if accessing finder,safari,itunes or any other app would mess it up.. No issues. I then went back to Pro Tools which was still running strong at around 5 minutes. I decided to shake the edit window a bit. 9171!!!!

These errors are plugin related bro. The initial feedback of 10.3.3 looks good.

If your still getting these errors I suggest you setup a new session when you have time and record audio and midi, Use your favorite plugins for everything and pay close attention to when the errors occur then slowly start removing the plugins that trigger the error.

Or better yet, Open a new session and use only avid plugins and see if you still get the errors.

I know for a FACT Brainworx BX Digital V2 2.0.1 RTAS sets off these errors on 10.3.2 to the point its unusable.

Unfortunetly you might have to remove some of your favorite 3rd party plugs plugins to stabilize your Pro Tools rig. Thats just the way it goes, I have been doing it for years, Its nothing new.

Are you suggesting that I remove plugins from my plugins folder or just from my session? If you read my post that you quoted again, there were NO plugins or even any audio and I was still getting the errors!

Yes, any old plugins that are not current (legacy) or not even .dpm should be removed from the Plugins Folder. Just created another folder and call it "Old Plugins" move them there or just delete them. Your choice. This did help me to clean house and PT ran better.

not only, bro.

we do get them here without any plugin instantiated, and without any 3rd party plugins installed. i tested 10.3.3 right after a fresh clean install, with just 1 audiotrack and no plugins and i could force the 9171 to happen.

9172 doesn´t show up, but there´s a wacky-moment where the audiofiles on multitracked projects get out of sync. this happens alot when bouncing and this is the worst scenario.
