MBox 2 Pro not responding after upgrade to PT 8.0.4

After not using PT since version 7 on my MacPro due to upgrading to OS 10.6 I purchased an upgrade to PT LE 8. Downloaded and installed and then downloaded and installed the 8.0.4 upgrade.

On initial launch PT crashed due to a conflict with the Rewire plugin. I disabled that and PT would launch but could not find my MBox 2 Pro. The Mbox has no LED lit.

I tried updating the firmware using the Unix script in Application support/Digidesign/Firewire, but no luck.

Using System Profiler I can see on the firewire bus,
"Mbox 2 Pro Bootloader Unit:
Unit Software Version: 0x1400
Unit Spec ID: 0xA02D"

In system preferences I have two Mbox panes, "Digidesign Mbox 2" which tells me, "Firmware version: <Not Available>, Unable to connect to Mbox2" and "Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro" which shows, "No hardware detected".

The Mbox is connected via a Firewire400 hard drive and everything worked fine under OS 10.5 and PT7. Something has gone wrong during the upgrade process. I haven't been able to get PT to launch at all since the upgrade.

Problem solved.

Clean uninstall. Then reinstall 8.0 and update to 8.0.4 solved the issue.

Something spooked the Mbox when PT crashed on initial launch due to the conflict with DigiRewire.
