Cannot activate SoundReplacer

Downloaded the v11-AAX64 version for Mac and installed successfully.


Launched PT(12) and got a dialog box stating it had to be activated. Followed the buttons but it stopped where it stated there are no pending activations, does not show SoundReplacer as an option, and states it might have to be deposited by Avid.
Also logged into my iLok account and no pending activations there either.


Please advise - would like to use this plugin.

Do you have the SoundReplacer license on your iLok along with the Pro Tools license?

I checked my iLok account and it shows there are no pending activations. So far, have not seen any instructions getting the license into my PT iLok other than the activation error during PT launch stating that it may need to be deposited into iLok by PT/Avid. Thanks!

Might be a stupid question, but did you purchase the plugins prior to downloading it? It's at purchase that the license will get deposited.

I downloaded it off the Avid website but there was no indication it had to be purchased. I thought it was old enough that it's free at this point. If you can find a buy link, if there is one, I would appreciate it.

Actually good question Manny - the page where Sound Replacer is posted does not indicate a price or a way to purchase. It only offers a download.

Sound Replacer is licensed nowadays to most users via the "Avid Compete Plugin Bundle" and that bundle subscription being included in Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate subscriptions or perpetual support plans. And since lots of us get it that way you likely won't see lots of people talking about license needs... many users just have the license without thinking about it.

According to your profile you are on Pro Tools 12 HD. You likely won't have a Sound Replacer license unless it was part of a bundle/promotion when you purchased 12HD.

Look on your iLok or in your iLok account at what licenses you actually have. If you have the "Avid Complete Plugin Bundle" license bundle you'll see the SoundReplacer license in that bundle. If you don't have this license the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle costs (edit:) $49/year to subscribe to and may be the best way of getting it, and at least to me I could not use Pro Tools without that bundle. https://www.avid.com/plugins/avid-co...-plugin-bundle

You also might have compatibility issues with any new plugin downloads and old Pro Tools 12 versions.
