Default Is there a shortcut for this?

It would be amazing if there was a shortcut to designate a boundary to open a handle on a clip. Hold down a hot key while clicking the timeline and having the handle snap open to that spot.

Somebody please tell me this exists.

On mac there's alt+/- and cmd+/- to open handles according to the nudge value. Maybe that helps already?

Alt -/+ and Cmd +/ as mentioned, is also my way.
Alt - will pull out the handle plus one nudge value, so Alt - followed directly by Alt + will correct that.
Same goes for Cmd + , can be followed by Cmd - .

yes, as mentioned it exists but it's buggy. Will open to the selection plus the current nudge value. Won't open exactly to your selection.

frank.

If you need to do this a lot and you use something like quickeys, it is pretty easy to create a custom shortcut that
- first extend the clip (plus the nudge value) than
- reduce it by the nudge value.

hope this helps.

If quickeys is no option, Alt-minus-plus and Cmd-plus-minus. It is a simple and fast solution.
The shortcut is not buggy in my opinion, it is as descriped in the shortcuts guide ("trim edge by nudge value"); but there could be one with that functionality (e.g. "extend clip exactly to selection").

The shortcut is not buggy when used as described in the manual. However if you only select start or end of a clip, the shortcut performs what in fact the "trim clip --> start(end) to fill selection" commands from the edit menu are doing, plus one nudge value. The commands from the edit menu are not buggy and work fine, expanding the clip to the exact selection start or end. However these have no keyboard shortcuts assigned to them. But you can easily do this from the OSX System preferences. I used alt+cmd+A, alt+cmd+S and alt+cmd+T for this. See the German screen-shot.
