Default set up pt9 so solo in control room does not affect headphones

I have a bussed mix set up for the headphones working fine. I want to be able to solo a track in the control room but have it not affect the headphone mix, such as when a singer is laying a part down. I have the pre-fade option engaged.
How should I set pro tools up to achieve this?
thanks

Well, you're off to a good start w/ a set aux sends and having them in pre-fade mode. Assign the Aux Sends to a bus.
You can then set the output of the track itself to mulitiple outputs (out 1&2 AND 3&4) (for example)

It's been a long time since I've tried this, but - don't know your interface, but on my 003, I have the monitors plugged into 3&4 (or anything other than monitor outs, or 1&2). Then as I said above you can assign an output on a track to multiple outs (I forget the key command) Then I believe you would just use the solo button on the buses you created.

There is one catch - Low Latency Mode: In order to keep the sends active you need to turn of LLM.

Like I said, It's been a long time since I've done this w/ my 003 but it is do-able.

If you are on an HD system, just create a set of pre-fader sends to a pair of outputs (I usually use 3&4). You can use the Edit>Copy to Send menu item to copy your main mix to your headphone mix, then tweak the headphone mix as desired. I am not sure how this works on non-HD systems regarding LLM etc, and the copy to send feature was not in the PT8 LE versions, not sure if it is in the base version of PT9 now.

As a follow up I have this working now. I am on a 003 btw. What I needed to do was change the aux send to pre on the actual fader itself. Click on the little blue pre button. I had already assigned it to its own out put being 03-04, but I use the phones plug on the front and activate the alt 03-04 button on the front of the 003. All works a treat....

Ok I'm in pt10 (HD Native) and I'm having the same problem, but simply clicking the "pre" button doesn't fix it. Everything works great, and the headphone mix is otherwise totally independent as it should be. But if I solo a track in the main mix, it automatically solos it in the headphone mix (against my wishes). Any further ideas? Thanks!

You have to have an audio interface that allows you to send out two stereo outputs. You assign all the pre fader sends to 3 and 4, and your monitor mix to 1 and 2. In short. As above. If you have a two channel interface it's tough.
