Double tempo of MIDI file
Hi,
Strange situation I got myself into with some MIDI files... I just imported a MIDI track into my session and realized that the person that tracked it recorded it at double the speed of my actual session (say 140 versus 70). So what is happening is that, obviously, the MIDI file is running double as fast when I import it into the master session. I know I can scale (or double) the value of the notes, but that leaves them in place where they are and I have to manually move each measure over to accommodate the longer note value. This is a pain. Is there a way to just double the default value of the MIDI file so that it plays in time without scaling? Might anyone have a suggestion how to get through this as quick and painless as possible? Thanks so much!!

Re: Double tempo of MIDI file
If you have a constant tempo (not a complex tempo map), make all tracks "sample-based", import the MIDI, take the tempo map from the MIDI, ensure the new MIDI track is set to Tick-based, use Scale Tempo from the Tempo Operations (or just adjust the tempo) to set the tempo back to the proper tempo, then convert the other tracks back to Tick-based as needed.
If you have a complex tempo map (actually I would do it this way regardless), I would import the MIDI into a new session, do the same stuff as above to adjust the tempo to the proper tempo and then export the MIDI and import it into the main session.

Re: Double tempo of MIDI file
I know that this is ancient, but crikey - it's perfect! even in 12.7!
