Itunes 8.0 playback distorted in Mbox2

I am having issues with my mbox2 and itunes as well. I havent posted here in over 3 years and a search didnt return anything. I have the 7.4 pro-tools software if that helps.

It's a known bug with the Digi Wave driver.
Truth is the wave driver is far from perfect even aside from the iTunes issue.
The good news though, Digi has stated here that they are aware of it's faults and a rewrite is in the plans.
Many of us here route system sounds through a secondary soundcard. I use a generic set of computer speakers (I reference mix down's with them as well), some route the output through their Digi device and main monitors.

Man, the itunes has become my bread and butter for getting and previewing new music...I also use stream their radio fm stations constantly at work. This is unacceptable.

I dont have a secondary sound-card so i am uber screwed I guess...Cmon Digi...Every other media player I have works rather well with it.

Don't you mean "Cmon Apple"?? If every other media player you have works rather well with it... and iTunes/Quicktime doesn't... wouldn't that point a finger in the Apple direction?

And this problem has been around for a LONG time; so only after 3 years for you it has become unacceptable?

Personally, while I agree that it is a problem, I would much rather they spend their time and resources on the program that the hardware was designed for; Pro Tools.

Fair enough spkguitar...I hope they fix it soon though...I got in to itunes only a few months ago but it has quite rapidly become my music application of choice...I listen to the fm all day at work and when I come home I will like to do the same...Maybe is apple but who really knows...

It's going to be a while. You're going to need to settle on a work around if you want to keep using iTunes.

So I was wrong earlier. All my media players are not flawless after all...My mp3s are choking badly...This is happening every 30 seconds...This is occurring in realplayer and windows media player as well...In fact, it happens with streaming videos online as well...The audio goes out for about a second every 30 seconds....I may uninstall 7.4 and revert back to PT7...I only need the mbox2 anyway...My experience with the pro-tools application has been so bad I never use it...

Ya know, if you have no intention of using Pro Tools, you would probably be much better served using something other than Digi hardware.

I fixed the problem again by uninstalling 7.4 and re-installing 7.0...Can I get my money back from digi for the $75 I paid for the upgrade...I am not angry now but in a week or two I will be if I dont get my refund...Like I said, I dont even use the software but I thought upgrading may improve performance with other products on my computer...

Itunes is still choppy in 7.0 but I can leave with that. Someone suggested getting a different sound card for my other media and using the mbox2 strictly for audio recording...

JMS: When I redo my studio 2010 I can assure you there wont be a digidesign product in it.
