Default "Peripherals have Changed " error message

Hi ,
Out of nowhere I am getting the error message: "peripherals to the HDX card have changed " have to quit and it persists, I can work for a couple minutes but then the message recurs.
I have no other peripherals, no updates, nothing has changed.
I have also noticed lots of I/O spikes across the LED's sometimes during this error message.( sometimes inputs 1/2 sometimes across all 16 ( I only have 8 channels tho )
I have also noticed random spiking on the meters even before I launch the PT app.
I have re installed PT, trashed prefs, ran digi test, updated firm ware. re seated the HDX card AND tried it in a different slot.
thoughts anyone?
Computer mother board? digi link cable? hex card? I/O ?
Bizarre
Thanks !
Running PT 11.3.1 OS 10 8.5
6 core mac ,
HDX
HD I/O
