Default Suggestions for CD burner and software?

I am looking to buy an external CD-RW and CD mastering software that will enable me to send a finished DIGI001 recording to a duplicating company, all ready to go.

Any suggestions?

I have a G4 400 PCI with no SCSI support. I was thinking of using Firewire.

Also, will I need to buy an external floppy drive for use with plug-ins etc? - I have a ZIP.

Josh

There are about 20 different threads available on those exact topics. A search in the 001 forum for "cd burn" will give you a wealth of info.

No offense, it's just easier to re-direct you than to re-type earlier posts.

I've been doing that search for about two month before taking my decision. And I'm glad I did, cuz I've been burning and burning, and I still don't know what the word 'coaster' means
I also have a Yikes 400.

I considered Firewire (no compatibility with Mastering softs...).
I considered ATA, or EIDE (You'd loose your bootable CDrom or would have to do some serious surgeon work to your G4)
I considered SCSI 12x (same as above).
I considered Plextor, Glyph (expensive)
I considered....

OK, OK, get to the point:
I got an Adaptec 2906 SCSI card and a APS [Yamaha mechanism] 8x4x24x, the best drives around.
And I'm glad I did.

Total cost was $380 with the db 25-50 cable (best cable around too.), from APS. Those guys rule. Delivered the day later.

As far as software, Toast Standard (included in the above package) is your basic soft. You'll need it for CDRW back ups...
But I strongly recommend getting Jam or Waveburner for serious mastering purposes.

Keep it Hard and Kickin' !
