Mac Studio doesnt recognize HDX card

I was thinking more in practical terms, how people are getting along with the eGFX breakaway box with new Apple silicon M1 and M2 Macs.

Are there any known issues, are they reliable and how is the fan noise on these?

I'm also looking for peoples experience with eGFX 550's. I've just taken the plunge on a M2 Studio and would like to pick up a 550 to install a HD Native card and NVME drive in.

any updates on this? Is it working well for people with HDX and ProTools in silicon native?

All working fine now.... but still having issues with digitest.

When ever I try and open it I get an error code, so updated the card in my old Intel Mac.

I've been on my silicon Mac for 7-10 days with no issues so far (fingers crossed that continues).

It's been a while since I've updated the firmware on my HDX card, do you need DigiTest for that? I kind of remember ProTools prompting me upon startup to update the firmware a couple years back.. might be wrong though

Digitest doesn't do the update. Opening Pro Tools (with the HDX driver installed) will auto do the update.

ok I took the plunge and grabbed a cheap EGFX 550 and it works great with my M1 Macbook running Pro Tools 2023.12.1!

I had to make a power cable for the HDX card but other than that it was pretty straightforward, could have ordered one for €50 but didn't want to have to wait for shipping..

small addendum: I'm running Ventura 13.6.1
one thing I just noticed today is that the HDX hardware is now no longer available as a playback device for Mac core audio - though this might have nothing to do with the expansion chassis, my previous system was running Catalina with an older version of Pro Tools.

Did you have Pro Tools open when you noticed this?
HDX is never available to anything else when ProTools is open and will show back up when ProTools is closed.
