Vote for the fix here. I mean, it's sort of like voting for Microsoft to fix an error in Word that randomly changes the first and last letters of some sentences, right? But maybe it'll help draw more attention to it.

Come on AVID, get it together! This is not a small issue. I do hundreds, if not thousands, of punches throughout the course of producing an album and neither I, nor my clients, appreciate hearing this glitch!! Get it together please.
Yes, that's also my experience. The recorded region remains unaffected. It's kind of like a tiny delay and the recording artist shouldn't have to put up with it. It happens regardless of whether I punch using the control surface or the mouse on the computer monitor. Don't recall being an issue in any other version starting @ v6. It also happens when you flag using pre-roll. It's not just a "punch-in" issue as such.

I would also love an update. The clicks are sometimes frighteningly loud and they're really distracting for clients. I just switched from Mac to PC (because my hackintosh died) and from PT 9 to PT10. I've never encountered this issue before now, so I tried a few things to see if I could make it go away. Here's what I can tell you about when it happens/doesn't happen, which I hope will be helpful to Avid tech support:

1. PT 9.0.3, OSX 10.6.7, RME Fireface 400: no issues
2. PT 10, Windows 7 SP1, FF400: ISSUES
- it appears that if I turn off ADC, the issue largely goes away
3. PT 10, Windows7 SP1, Profire 2626: no issues

So I think it has something to do with Windows, some third-party ASIO drivers, and recording while ADC is enabled. There you go, now please fix it so that I can go back to my FF400 and 64 sample buffer. Thank you.

P.S. - how come when I bounce a section of a track and import it to the same location, it's not at the same spot? It's moved by a large number of samples. Is that an ADC problem too?

Thanks, but I've got it on Digi 002R with and without ADC enabled. Not just the noise in the monitors, but a click written to the audio on disc; I suspect it sometimes writes the data out of sync, or that it's always a bit out of sync, sometimes more than others. The issue of writing data out of sync has been with us since 8.x.

Could be, but most like the same bug.

This issue is a driver or firmware issue . Jo de lucca and myself
made a lot of troubleshotting on this and everythign pointed to that .
To make things worse hes using now an RME hardware and everything.runs perfect.
And i tested the same system with same plugs and same setting but with the cheapest
fast track from m audio and i didnt got any of the mentioned
bugs....... everything worked just perfect .

So the workaround is to buy a non-Avid or really chincy Avid interface?

Yes, I believe you are correct. I too have done a lot of troubleshooting on this. The last driver to not exhibit this problem is the 8.0.3 beta driver for Win 64.
