Default DELAY when recording

I've been using the HD3/MAC setup for the past 4 years. Every time I press record, there is a 3-5 second delay, until it actually records and writes.

Anyone know why and how to fix this so I can maintain my sanity?

Thank you.

Open your transport window, and make sure that you do not have the "countoff" button engaged. It is probably set to "two bars". If you can't find it, then RTM. Do a search in the manual for "transport". Good luck. SB

Yes, it could also be pre roll? again on the transport bar, make sure its not hi-lighted /engaged.

Is Quick punch turned on? this could cause some delay.

The session is on an internal drive or external? external drives can be slower, USB drives are very slow.

thanks for the reply. i'll check all that. no quick punch on.

internal drives, all 10K RPM, so the speed is good. it's really only about 3 seconds, but it's just frustrating sometimes. seems like a minute when people are all waiting.

Also check your DAE buffer size is set to level 2 in the playback engine and that the transport is not online and waiting for the Sync IO to lock up before it drops into record...
