Default Asus Dual Xeon (PC-DL) problems

Hi,

Anyone out there managed to get a dual Xeon system working?
This machine was built for 3D animation & video production, and for this task works beautifully.

In the last few weeks I decided to add a Digi002R to my system and have not managed to get it to work without H/W buffer problems (errors -6085, -9092, -9093, -9094).

System:
Dual Xeon 3.06
Asus PC-DL Deluxe MB
(i875b chipset)
2Gig PC3200 RAM
Asus Radeon 9600 128Mb x8 Dual Video
Onboard TI 1384 chipset
Pioneer A106 DVD-RW
Canopus ACEDVio OHCI compliant Capture card (with NEC 1384 chipset)
Hard drives:
1 x Seagate 80gig PATA (system)
1 x WD 200gig PATA (storage)
2 x Seagate 120gig PATA (storage)
2 x Seagate 120gig PATA (external 1384 skymaster enclosure)
1 x Promise Fastrak SX4 RAID (4 x Seagate 160gig SATA)

I have tried many thing from the Compato website.
Disabling HT, NIC, USB, etc etc....no success.

Any suggestions?
Cheers

Nice rig!

You may have to get one of the compatible PCI firewire cards. The Adaptec 4300 is the most popular one here, but Avid likes the ADS Pyro. Once installed you will probably have to disable the on-board firewire. It may also be a good idea to create a separate hardware profile and disable everything not needed to run PT LE, like your NIC, on-board firewire, the Canopus, sound card etc.

PT LE doesn't like to share the PCI bus, so your external firewire drives may also be causing some problems. Also, PT LE doesn't like RAID arrays, and I notice you have one of those.

Unfortunately, as you are discovering, PT LE doesn't play nice with the other kids in the sandbox. The firewire PCI card is only $30 and the rest of the suggestions only require a little time. Hopefully you can get it straightened out soon. If not, just keep posting your problems and those more knowledgeable than I will be sure to help.

Cheers,

Thanks for the tips.
Tried some, but some I haven't.
I'll give them a go.

Thanks.
