Perpetual license?
Websters unabridged defines the word perpetual as never ending. Continuing on forever, etc. Avid should have checked their definitions before using that word. When I purchased my new Creation station I was talked in to also purchasing Pro Tools 12 with Windows 10. I say talked in to purchasing because I really wanted Pro Tools 10, 64 bit with Windows 7, 64 bit! I was told by my "personal sales engineer" that what I wanted was not possible because the software I wanted was no longer available. This all happened one year ago.
Well, here I am a year later and Avid advises me it's time to upgrade! For a meager $299.00 plus another $99.00 I can have all the wonderful things that the upgrade offers, which I don't want, don't need and can live without! Long story short I bought a non perpetual pig in a poke! Consumers are victims of scam artists in todays economy! |

Re: Perpetual license?
Quote:
If you update your OS, or would like to have the latest version of Pro Tools, Avid requires you to be "on plan" which is $99/yr for PTSW and $399/yr for HD. The $299 number is because you must have let your plan lapse and that's their reinstatement fee. If you're happy, you can pay them nothing and continuing using PT as you are now forever. |
